OUR IRIS FARM
Nestled between the beautiful Barossa and Clare Valley regions of South Australia, Smokin Heights is home to a thriving iris garden where hundreds of stunning varieties bloom each season.

Our iris are grown in true Australian garden conditions, selected for their beauty, resilience, and ability to thrive with water used wisely. Each year we grow and release a range of extraordinary bearded iris, including exciting new varieties from Australia and carefully selected imports from overseas.

During bloom season our garden comes alive with colour, fragrance and texture, creating a truly special place for iris lovers and garden enthusiasts to explore.

MEET MELISSA & BAILEY
Smokin Heights is a family run iris garden built on a shared passion between mother and son.
​
Melissa’s love of iris began more than 30 years ago, drawn to their striking colours, elegant form and incredible garden performance. Over the years, that passion has grown into a dedicated garden filled with extraordinary varieties.
​
That same love for iris soon rubbed off on her son Bailey. Over the past decade they have worked together to expand the garden and collection, growing some of the newest and most exciting bearded iris available from Australia and around the world.
​
Bailey is an enthusiastic hybridiser, focusing on broken, novelty and lined pattern iris — constantly experimenting and developing unique new cultivars.
​
Melissa continues her own hybridising work, concentrating on dramatic dark-toned iris and the distinct beauty of Aril Hybrids.
Together they are proud to share their garden, their knowledge, and what they affectionately call the “Iris Virus” with fellow gardeners.

Our iris season runs from December through to March. Orders close at the end of March and reopen again in September for pre-orders.
